They say that you start any new stuff by eating some sweet. So my first recipe is obviously going to be a sweet .
This one is really different . A perfect blend of Coconut and Cocoa . And that's why the name CoCo ladoos.
So for this you need
- 2 cups freshly grated coconut
- 1 cup sugar
- 3/4 cup milk
- 1 tbsp cocoa powder
- 1 tbsp ghee ( clarified butter)
- 2-3 drops of vanilla essence
- 1/2 cup chopped walnut
Method:-
- In a nonstick pan mix sugar, milk and cocoa powder and mix well.Cook till the sugar is completely dissolved.
- Then add the grated coconut and cook on low flame. Stir continuously.
- When the mixture starts to become thick , add the ghee and cook till the mixture begins to leave the sides of the pan. Now that's the indication that the mixture is ready.
- Then remove the pan from the heat and add the vanilla essence and the walnuts.
- Semi cool the mixture and then make ladoos .
- This one will make around 10 to 12 depending on the size
Tips:-
- Try using the freshly grated coconut and not the frozen one. For those who are in the US and have a problem grating it, get a hand grater from any oriental store. Its really easy to use. For those in India ,ask your maids to grate it for you :)
- You can use low fat milk for the recipe.
- If you are unable to bind the ladoos , put the mixture back in the pan and heat it again for a min or two.
Special Thanks to my very close cousin who used to make these yummy ladoos.
